Wartime Civilian Battery Set

This set was produced in 1944 by 44 different set makers

A simple set; built down to a specification and price. Much larger than the mains set so the batteries could be stored inside.

Individual manufacturers used whatever components were to hand so, although all sets are basically the same, there is little consistency in details.  Control knobs are one instance of individuality.

Simple controls, Volume - on/off - Tuning. Medium waveband only

Conventional 4-valve superhet; with space for the accumulator and 120volt HT battery.

These sets never had backs as weekly access was required to charge the accumulator and monthly to replace the 120 volt HT battery
